Westwood is a mid size, affluent community bordered by Dover, Dedham, Canton, Walpole, Needham and Norwood. Originally settled in 1641 as part of the town of Dedham, it later became a separate town in 1897.
Modern day Westwood is an exceptional place to live and work. Money Magazine ranked Westwood 13th on its list of the 100 Best Places to Live in the United States while Boston Magazine listed Gay Street in Westwood as one of the Best Streets to Live on in the Boston area. Westwood also hosts an excellent public school system with students that consistently score in the top percentiles on national tests. Residents who wish to visit or work in Boston can do so via the Providence/Stoughton MBTA commuter rail line.
Points of interest in Westwood include the Colburn School and the Hale Reservation, a 1,200 acre open space that Westwood shares with nearby Dover.
